National Degree College, Rambagh, Purnea was established in 1986 with an aim to provide quality education to the students of backward area especially to those deprived of higher education, belonging to poor section of the society. This is one of the institution run by Millia Educational Trust, Purnea a non profitable Educational Trust founded by minority community (Founder Dr. A. Imam) registered under society registration act 21, 1860 under article 29, 30 (i) of the Indian Constitution. The trust has commendable record of achievements for upliftment of minority education through its different educational institutions. The members of the trust are renowned Educationist, Lawyers, Engineers and Doctors.
The college is located in the heart of Purnea town. The land acquired for the college is very extensive. The college has all the necessary facilities for its students.
National Degree College, is affiliated, permanently from B. N. M. U. Madhepura (Now in Purnea University, Purnea), Govt. of Bihar and University Grant Commission & Provides honours in all subjects for Arts, Science and Commerce and also vocational courses B.B.A., B.C.A. & Bio-technology.
